Quick & Easy DIY Permanent Marker Storage
As I said on Monday, I am forever working on my Craft Room, especially the storage. I want to create fun and cute ways to store my tools that doesn’t cost a lot fits with the theme I have going. So when I got the adorable BIC Mark-It Permanent Markers, I knew they couldn’t be in a drawer, they had to be on display and easy to access! This is what I came up with:
I was trying to figure out how to have them all displayed, but not just in one big bucket. Then, when I was in the garage doing some laundry, I spotted the tin cans I had saved from Avery’s birthday party and they were perfect! Then I remembered I had a leftover wooden disk that they all fit perfectly on and I knew it was meant to be. Yeah, I may be a little too excited about a simple storage solution, but what can I say. First things first, I cut out a circle from a piece of scrap book paper for the disk.
Then, I took the cans outside and gave them a coat of gold spray paint. Gold is a fun little accent in my craft room so I thought it would fit perfect. A good coat of paint was all it needed.
Once the paper was Mod Podged on the wooden disk (hint, only apply the Mod Podge to the disk, not the back of the paper, and it won’t pucker and bubble nearly as much), I set up the cans to make sure everything worked before I put them together.
Then, one by one, I glued each can to the center can with the hot glue gun. Once they were all glued together, I added some glue to the bottom and attached it to the scrapbook paper covered disk.
The last touch was some teal baker’s twine and then all I needed to do was add the BIC permanent markers! I love that it is a simple storage solution that didn’t cost me a cent to put together! Plus, organizing the permanent markers by colors (all the reds/oranges together, all the yellow/greens together and so on) really added to the organized feeling.
