Paper Heart Valentines Wreath

I am fully into Valentines decor mode! I am having a blast making a lot of new items for around the house! Today, I made one of the necessities when one is talking about holiday decor.A wreath of course! Bloggers are always looking for another excuse to make another wreath!I don’t know what it is about wreaths but we all want a collection! At some point, we all may be changing our wreath every week!

What do you think about my latest creation? I am really excited about it because I don’t believe I have seen one like this!  I saw this technique on some trees, in a magazine I think, and thought it would be great for a wreath!

  • 6 sheets of 12×12 paper, I used glittery cardstock I got during one of those 5 for a dollar sales
  • straw wreath form
  • hot glue gun
  • glue sticks
  • heart punch or Cricut cartridge with a heart, I cut min on my Cricut at 1.75 inches (You need close to 300 hearts)

First, I always grab these straw wreath forms because they are cheap but the secret is to keep the plastic wrap around it ON, this controls the straw. But they are great because you can pin, glue and anything else you can think of into them.
It is very simple, I just started hot gluing them randomly, overlapping them a bit. I only put glue on the point of the heart because I wanted to be able to slip them between and under.

As I went, I found it was easier to do the bottom row of the inside and outside first and then fill in the top. It was an awkward angle to do once there were already a bunch of hearts, this was much quicker.

It goes really quick, I think it only took 20 min maybe to glue all the hearts, I generally glue fast though. It for sure took longer to cut them all then it did to glue them all!

I grabbed some glitter tulle that I had on hand to wrap around to hang and I was done! I got this picture just before the sun started to go down, not a minute to spare!

I forgot to ask in my last comment. Which Cricut cartridge did you use for the heart shape?
