Number Recognition Sensory Activity with FREE Printables!
How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was great but this year, Avery had the whole week off of school and naturally, I had to make sure that we were still keeping up on our academics! I am not all mean though, I had to make sure that it was a little fun and this activity was more than just a little fun, she loved it!
We were thrilled when we received the Bunchems Mega set, I loved how they could be used to build and create, but they are also a great sensory toy that can be manipulated into different letters and numbers as well! You know you are a teacher when you are always looking for the way a toy can be used to facilitate the learning process!
Of course before we got to the ‘learning’ we had to have some fun and so I took a video of us building the Bunchems robot- I could get addicted to these! It was so fun! The little book that comes with the Mega pack shares over 30 different 3D creations that you can make with the hundreds of Bunchems provided!
Then I got to work making some number mat printables that work very well with Bunchems and little hands, not too big and not too small. All you need to do is print them out, trim them down and if you would like, laminate them. I always like to laminate everything because it just makes it last longer. You can check out that free printable here —>
Then I let Avery get to it! She had a good time squeezing and pushing the Bunchems together to make the different numbers.
Does this face look like one that is doing a boring math project?! I don’t think so!
These were a blast and I think they would be a great gift idea to encourage children to squish, connect and create!
