Money Saving Tips for Homemade Holiday Gifts

I love the holidays because of all the fun that I have figuring out the perfect gift, shopping, making it, wrapping it and then giving it to whoever. But being a crafter, I may really enjoy making gifts .. but also shopping for everything I need to put together my homemade holiday gifts is pretty awesome also! Here are some of my tips for saving money and time while when making homemade holiday gifts!

I first make a list of everyone I can think of that I will want to give or make a gift for, including  coworkers, the people that work for my husband, the people at Scott’s day program – everyone. Then I think of something fun that would fit that group of people. I made a great printable that you can find HERE to organize you holiday gift list.

Once you have your gift ideas, you need to make a list of all the things that you will need to put together for your projects. For example, one of my favorite things to do during the holidays when people come over is put a pot of water on the stove and add citrus peel, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and other spices and let it all simmer together on the stove. When people come over, it just fills the whole house with holiday fabulousness. Being that I work with a bunch of woman who all host various parties throughout the season, I thought it would be perfect to share this idea with them by putting together little jars with everything they need to give try this for themselves. So, for that idea, I need mason jars- of course! I picked up these pint sized Ball jars for a great price from Consumer Crafts, love their website- it is serious one stop shopping!

That brings me to my next tip; save your gas and buy online! Consumer Crafts has everything you need for you homemade holiday gifts! Parents also appreciate homemade and especially pictures so I wanted to try the photo to canvas transfer and when I was getting the mason jars, I found the perfect 8×10 wrapped canvases! I love shopping in my pj’s.

My last tip when shopping for your homemade gift supplies is to limit where you shop so you don’t have to pay a lot of shipping charges, even better is that orders over $75 ship free from Consumer Crafts. They have everything I need for a variety of projects, I was even able to plan a gift for all the kids in Avery’s dance class because of their great price on small canvas bags! I found these sweet little bags that are PERFECT for tap shoes and maybe I have a vested interest in this because I am a teacher at the school but before dance all the kids wear their ballet shoes and bring their tap shoes. Very few of the children have a bag for their shoes and the ones that do have bags that are quite large. This way they will all have a sweet little bag with their name on it, it is adorable and things stay organized!

Can you believe that?! That is just the START of 3 very different presents for 3 very different groups of people and I have been able to get everything I need in one spot! That saves so much time and money and I can get to the fun part- crafting! Stay tuned to all these fun projects being shared here on Delicate Construction and my You Tube channel!

Also, check out this great catalog from Consumer Crafts for more great ideas (seriously, I have a whole new list!
