Spring cleaning is one of the favorite and most dreaded times of the year. Stay with me. When it starts we are ready to purge, scrub, scour and dust… but then we get about half away into the project and the appeal has worn off. Completely. This happens to me every year and it took a while but now I have a plan to get through the mid spring clean hump and it involves a few of my favorite things. First, decorating, I love decorating but know that the space has to be clean before I can tackle a new decorating project, like covering up the blank wall in the living room that has been driving me crazy. I love when my daughter creates art pieces for the house, but when I am spring cleaning, I don’t always want to have to spring clean her as well. That is, until  I discovered these PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes in the cleaning aisle of Walmart the other day and read that they are gentle on hands but tough on messes. Hallelujah! Avery can create art, clean herself up after on her own and I am free to continue cleaning!

As I mentioned, decorating is usually the thing that helps me push through the final parts of the cleaning rut- the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak so when I was staring at that empty wall while vacuuming the couch, I got an idea! I could have Avery paint a large canvas I had in the garage and it would be perfect of the space and easy on the budget (as in completely free!). I gathered my paints, filled up some egg cartons and brought out the canvas.

The only thing left to do was make sure my PURELL® Hand Sanitizing Wipes were near by and they were free to create, there are even two great sizes, that smaller canister is certainly going to find it’s way to my car! After all, part of the reason I had kids was to decorate my walls with their art and Avery had a friend over and any time you let multiple children paint in your house you are considered a ‘cool mom’. Done and done!

When having kids create art that you want to hang in a spot, it is important to think about how all of the colors you are choosing will look like when they are completely mixed together. Kids under 6 are mostly likely going to start with a plan but then get rather into the process and end up with a mixed up masterpiece and if you plan accordingly with your colors you will avoid the unfortunate thing at happens when you mix yellow and purple.

The acrylic paint was perfect to cover up the previous project and any texture that did show through was just added effect! The kids certainly didn’t mind!

Avery and her friend had a blast and I loved watching them create! I wasn’t even worried too much about the mess because I knew it would be easy clean up!

Once they were done, I gave them each a PURELL® Hand Sanitizing wipe for their hands and they took care of the rest!

The room wasn’t destroyed, I had a new piece of artwork for my now not-so-empty wall and I finished Spring cleaning my living room! That is a win/win/win if you ask me!
