“Home” Hoop Art from Bev at Flamingo Toes
Recently I got back from the SNAP! conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. As per usual, it was amazing. I took 3 days of classes, 3 whole days of learning and soaking up as much information as I could. I went into it with the mentality that I needed all the learning I could gather so I didn’t plan on taking any of the hands on classes that were awesome, even though they sounded amazing! But, at the last minute I decided to take the Hoop Art Class with Bev from Flamingo Toes and I am so glad I did! Look what I made!
This was such a fun class and I can honestly say, I have never created anything like this before, nor do I think I really would have tried on my own. The way it happened was I was helping Bev set up her class (she is seriously probably the nicest person I know) and I was in love with all her fabric choices right down to the bags that she provided the materials in! That is when I decided I had to try this whole hoop art thing and now I just might be addicted! The class was an hour and a half and much of the first at least half hour or so was practicing the three stitches used. Then we were able to get started and I got about half way through in that time. The first day I got home I finished it up and was thrilled with the way it came out! You can get this FREE pattern on her site too- because she is awesome like that, of course.
I know this is far from perfect but Bev picked a great beginner project and I feel like I did pretty good for my first ever attempt at embroidery. I can’t wait to try more and especially the cute woodland animals she has in her Etsy shop. You may see more of these from me in the future so watch out!
