Easy Tips to get Back on Track with Nestle
It is January so I, like many others, have resolved to add some healthier habits to create a more balanced lifestyle. In order to stay accountable and maybe share some tips with you all, I thought I would share some of my plans here on my little corner of the internet. But first, I feel compelled to say, I am no health expert. By a long shot. I am just a mom trying to make better choices and maybe shed some of that bothersome baby weight at the same time. I hope you all find something you can use!
Some of these may be common sense, but they are still worth saying, starting with, drink.more.water. Seriously, I am horrible at this, but it is key! To make this a little more attractive, I am trying the fruit water and am loving it so far. All I did was pop some strawberries, black berries, blueberries and cucumber in my ice water, it was that easy, and it is that good!
Next, I need to make sure I am making better choices when it comes to food. I am always so busy that I often go without meals and then I find myself starving and willing to eat whatever is convenient- which usually means fast food. Not a good choice, obviously.
To battle this on my last trip to Walmart, I stocked my freezer with Lean Cuisine meals so I have much healthier options, right at my finger tips. The first few I tried were Lean Cuisine® Sesame Chicken, Lean Cuisine® Simple Favorites™ Macaroni and Cheese, Lean Cuisine® Morning Collection™ Turkey Sausage English Muffin, Lean Cuisine® Wrap ADDITIONS™ Creamy Balsamic Chicken, and Lean Cuisine® Stuffed Pretzels Three Cheese & Spinach. They all are delicious, low in calories and hit the spot!
Just because you are taking a little help from the store, doesn’t mean you can’t make some additions of your own! We paired the Stuffed Pretzels which were a snack with a salad to make it a filling lunch and added some tuna to the Macaroni and Cheese to bump up the protein.
Here is a huge one, don’t skip breakfast. Next to my water consumption, this is the next a major barrier to my own healthy lifestyle. I need convenient and I need easy, something that I can take on the go is even better! Smoothies work great because I can throw them together and then bring them with my on my school drop offs.
For this Peaches ‘n’ Cream smoothie, I used 2 tbsp CoffeeMate Better For You Sugar-Free Vanilla, 1 cup Greek yogurt, 1 cup frozen peaches, 1/4 cup of water and 1 tbsp ground flax seed. It comes in around 285 calories and is delish!
Last, I am a firm believer in everything in moderation. If you tell me I can never have sweets again, I will just rebel instantly. But there are a ton of snacks out there that satisfy your sweet tooth and don’t completely max out your calorie intake for the day. My new favorite are these Skinny Cow Devine Candies, I love the caramel filled chocolates. YUM.
Here is to a healthier 2014!!
