Easy Romantic Dinner Idea
Hey all, Valentines day is around the corner which means we all are trying to think of simple and easy ways to create romantic meals and dates for our fantastic spouses. One of the great things about being married is you don’t have to spend a whole lot of money to have a great time, we are past the period of money equals love- thank goodness!
The best thing about this dinner is that it is pretty easy and quick to put together so you won’t have to spend too much time in the kitchen. And, really, let’s be honest, no one wants to spend all night in the kitchen- totally not the point. All you have to do is dash out to Walmart and grab some Buitoni Pesto, Marinara and a package of your favorite ravioli. We went with 4 cheese because that is my hubby’s favorite. Then I cooked the pasta to the package directions and added a little bit of added flavor to the pasta with the pesto. I added a couple of tablespoons of pesto to a bowl and then stirred in a ladle full of the starchy cooking water. Then when the pasta was cooked, I stirred it through until it was all coated and put it on the plate. After that I put the marina on top and then added a bit of the alfredo for an extra layer of flavor.
Make sure when you are shopping for the Buitoni you go to the refrigerated aisle!
Pair the finished meal with a simple breadstick and some salad (you know, if you feel the need to be healthy like that) and you are done. Oh wait, except for a glass of wine, we will definitely have a glass of wine as well.
And you know that every Valentine’s day romantic meal needs a dessert! In all honestly, the meal could be entirely dessert and I would be fine with that…. but anyways, I wanted to try something I hadn’t made before so I went with a Tres Leches mason jar dessert- isn’t it cute?!
I got this brand new kit that made it easy, even for a first timer like me! I made the cake to the directions on the box and then used a cookie cutter to cut out little disks and layered them in the mason jar with some fresh whipped cream. I poured one of the small containers of heavy whipping cream, a heaping tablespoon of powdered sugar and a tablespoon of vanilla and whipped it all up. Once I had made a couple of layers, I shaved some chocolate on top and it was done! The best part of this is you can make a couple of extra so the kids can have one the next day- they surely won’t mind!
Hope you set up a romantic meal for your honey sometime soon!
