Easy Lace Boot Socks Tutorial
I have been swooning over these boot socks since before I was able to buy a pair of boots I liked!! But there is one thing, I didn’t really thing I could pull off those awesome sweater ones.
You know, where you find an older sweater and cut off the sleeves and then hem the edge and use those as boot socks. It sounds easy, and I am sure it is. Plus you can find a sweater anywhere, probably in your closet or for sure at a thrift store.
But I have always had larger calves, that is why I was so excited when I found boots, it has always been a challenge. I love that these ones aren’t skin tight like I usually end up settling for but when it comes down to it, as much as I like the sweater boot socks, chunky boots with chunky boot socks on larger calves. Not a great fashion decision for my body type.
I was sent some adorable pink stretch lace from WholePort and I was thinking about what I could do with it, it is a yard long. That is when the boot socks came into mind! How perfect! I could make them tighter and more fitted so it won’t add any extra bulk!
It was beyond easy too, since all boot socks are more of leggings made to look like socks, you don’t need that much material. I trimmed off the raw edge and then folded the material in half and cut it.
Then I sewed the edges, right sides together, of each piece. I went one direction, and then I turned the fabric around and sewed in the opposite direction, just to make sure. The fabric itself is stretchy so it worked out great!
Fold it right side out and you are done! It took under 10 minutes. Easy peasy.
Then you just slip them on over leggings or jeans (leggings for me because I want to add layers but not look bulky) and under your boots!
