Dollar Store Dish Towel Refashion
You know we all love a good dollar store refashion and I have another one for you! This one takes a dollar store dish towel and turns it into a kids art apron!!
Fun right?!
Click “Read More” to find out how to make one!
First lay out your dish towel.
Fold over the long side about an inch and a half.
Then cut that off and cut it into two pieces.
Now fold over the short side until you get the width you want for you apron- I eyeballed all of this and it came out fine.
Then I cut that and the thick seam on the opposite side.
The piece that I removed I then cut down as well to be the pocket.
Cut the smaller piece off.
Then layer the three pieces, the big one is the apron, the medium one is the pocket and the smaller one is the marker holding part of the apron.
After everything was cut I started hemming all the pieces, first i started with the long strips I cut in the beginning, these are the tie straps.
Hem out the big piece of towel.
Then sew the bottom of the smaller piece to the medium piece.
Talk chalk and make one inch marks all along the bottom where you sewed the seam.
Sew up the height of the small piece on all your marks.
Then trim your 8,080 pieces of string. Next sew your pocket onto the larger piece of fabric and then I added one more seam up the middle of the big pocket along the whole height to make two pockets instead of one large one.
Sew on your ties and you are done!
All you need to do now is fill it up!
