DIY School Art Storage Box
I am still in my major organizing mode and I want to make sure that it continues on through the school year so lately I have been adding in projects to keep things on track all year long! This is one of those that is meant to tackle a problem I have which is hoarding Avery’s artwork. Being a teacher myself, I know and can tell the pieces that were done quickly and the ones that took thought and effort and as a mom, I want to keep them all. Every. Single. One. I already have quite a collection and we have many years of school left so I want to reel it in and try to keep myself to one container for the whole year.
It all started with these great Creative Options items I was sent and I have 3 projects this week to show you how to use their awesome items in new ways and this first project utilizes the Project Box. Now I have many of these to organize my scrapbook paper and paper stacks, but I wanted to share a new way to use these boxes and with their 14.5″ square size, the possibilities are endless!
I wanted to clearly label the box with the year and Avery’s name and with the help of some colored vinyl and my Cricut Explore, that was not a problem! I cut out all my images after designing them in the Design Space software and weeded out the excess vinyl.
When it came to the wording, I used clear shelf paper as a transfer paper to make my life much easier.
First I put the year at the top and in this case that said “Kindergarten Keepsakes 2015-2016”.
Next came the cute little bird with a backpack and books. For this I had to cut out many different colors of vinyl and I just layered them as I would paper to create the image. It is actually a lot easier because the vinyl is self adhesive so you don’t have to worry about glues, strips or anything else!
Lastly, I added her name a the bottom and I was done! It is all ready for me to fill with many projects this year and anything that doesn’t fit in the box, can easily be photographed and added to a scrapbook later!
