DIY Bathroom Shelves {& A GIVEAWAY!!}

I received the same gift kit that I am giving away for this post, but all projects and opinions are my own. There are also affiliate links in this post. Thanks y’all!!

As much as I enjoy full blown remodels, in reality, room makeovers are much easier and more affordable to put together. This week I thought I would tackle the bathroom after I received an amazing new Waterpik  shower head. I couldn’t just switch it out without bring the rest of the room up to the same level now could I?!

I was so excited when I received a kit with the Waterpik SprayShaper shower head, a $25 giftcard to Home Depot and a design book from the amazing Kelly Edwards that I was instantly inspired. After checking out the shower head and looking through the book I knew that I had to tackle the bathroom, everyone sees your bathroom! Not only do they go in there, but they stay for a bit and have the perfect opportunity to look around, I want it to be cute! Let’s take a closer look at this shower head, shall we?

Pretty cool, right? The perfect way to pamper yourself after a hard day, and lets be honest, showering is the only place most of us moms get some alone time! So it was settled,  off to Home Depot I went to get the materials I needed to make some simple ledge shelves that would add a lot to a blank wall above my towels. Here is how I made them:

The shelves were pretty easy to put together, let’s break it down:

1. I grabbed 6 foot pieces of 1×2, 1×3 & 1×4 pieces of wood.

2. I cut all three boards at the same time with two cuts.

3. I ended up with an 18 inch set, 24 inch set and 30 inch set, I wanted staggered lengths.

4. I used my nail gun to attach the skinniest one and the thickest one on either side of the middle one in an “L” shape. If you would prefer: I attached the 1×2 and the 1×4 to either side of the 1×3, I guess that was pretty easy also, lol.

5. Once they were all finished they can be sanded and painted.

6. I pre-drilled holes for my screws in the tallest piece on the back.

7. I started the screws (I ended up using longer ones than these but the step is still the same) in the holes so that I could hold it up on the wall and not have to fiddle with them, they were already there to just screw into the wall.

8. I put the level on the shelf so I was sure to hang them correctly.

9. I noticed they could use another coat after they were on the wall so I just simply taped them off and gave them another coat of white paint.  Super easy, plus I was able to paint over the screws as well so they blended in with the background.

That’s it! All I had to do after that was decorate which I was able to do with things just around the house! It really is a quick and easy project and I love the space it gives me on the wall and I can switch it out easily whenever I need to!

Isn’t that fun! And the wood for the project was so affordable, you easily could grab some other items for organization from Home Depot if you have the space in your bathroom!

I would like to think I have given some pretty good information in this post, but we aren’t done yet! I sent a list of questions about easy and affordable home decor and DIY projects to Kelly Edwards and got back an amazing video answering my questions and sharing some great tips and advice with all of you!
