Craft Room!

I have been waiting to post this tour until the room was done, but does that ever really happen?

I got a wild hair a couple of weeks ago to turn our extra room into a craft room. Previously it was supposed to be a play room but there was a bed without a mattress in there for Avery. Since she was getting big for the crib and I was needing more craft space than the desk in the living room could provided. The decision was made.

Big girl bed out and in Avery’s room and craft supplies in! As I was pulling out a table and about to bring it in, Wade says “why don’t you paint it or something”.

DUH! Why didn’t I think of that?!

And the rest, is history… Or the rest of this post. Whatevs.

We cleared out the room and shampooed the carpets. I stole borrowed without planning on returning the shelves on either side of the entertainment center in the living room. They were not being utilized and I was not a fan of the wood and had wanted to paint them since I got them. I went to home depot and got a rejected quart of cream colored paint for $2, that was pretty much all I spent out of pocket for this room.

Made the hubbs me very happy.

The colors I went with were turquoise, purple and gold because those are the colors of spray paint I got for my birthday from my sister in law. Yup, I got spray paint for my birthday and was giddy about it!

Back to the room, let’s start with that table, I chose to paint it turquoise, it is just a simple desk from Ikea I think so it wasn’t pricey. The legs screw off so when we are not using it, it is easy to store which is why it is still around.

Do you see what I added though? I spray painted a yard stick gold and glued it to the side of the table, that way it is right there for whenever I need to measure anything. It has already come in handy many times.

Here is a shot of those shelves again, so much space!! I used storage containers I had on hand, many of which are upcycled food containers or from the dollar store.

Of course I need a close line to hold ideas, forms, orders, or what is going to be 17 more tutus. Crazy town, I know. I just sprayed the letters gold, I may add to them later but I don’t want to ruin them so I am waiting for the right idea.

What do you think about my gold fancy trash can? Did I ever tell you the story about this? I went to the liqueur store and this was sitting outside with a price tag of like $8 or something ridiculous and I had to have it! Can you blame me? It was green when I got it but I gave it the gold treatment before it came in the room. I like the height, so much easier to work with and the perfect size for a grocery bag. Next to it are my white shelves that got painted purple. This one has my Cricut Expression and my Cricut E2, on the bottom are some drills and my laminating machine.

Behind the table is this box I just got from my mom last weekend, I don’t know if I want to keep it how it is or do something to it, what do you think? It is holding more tools and containers.

Oh and say “hi” to Sasha.

Over here is the sewing machine, camera bag, and binding machine. Next to it are more storage containers. I just pulled that one on the top out, I don’t like it there but haven’t found a better space for it yet. It will come to me.

Here is a close up of the sign on my  two shelves, I had to get up on a chair. This was left over from the play room, I had this grand idea that I would make and frame a chalk board and hang it in the room. Well I got as far as painting it, I liked the idea of having something like all that chalkboard art that I see around lately so I gave it a shot! Pretty good I think! You can read more about the quote I used HERE. To do the chalkboard art I just printed out the words on the computer, colored the back with chalk, traced it from the front with a pen around the edges of the letters, pulled it off and the colored it in.

Here is underneath the table, the gold box was actually built by my grandpa and was my basinet when I was a baby. Now it is a fabric box, the board on top of it just gives me another surface and keeps the cats from making it their bed. It is the perfect spot to put stuff while it is drying… or your photo album.

On the other side of the box is more storage, things like Cricut cartridges and gift supplies and other sewing stuff.

And last, a picture of the mason jar storage. Really only because mason jars and bloggers  just fit together like Cheez-its and caramel sauce… what? You haven’t tried that? You should.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you come on over tonight and link up to the party!
