Coffee Playdough

This was one of my favorite things to make when working full time as a preschool teacher. I have never been a coffee drinker but lucky for me, Starbucks with give away their used grounds for free- also beneficial for your garden as well.
This dough smells great when done and has a grainy texture that kids love to explore. Here is the recipe I have been using for years, I can finally get it off the scratch paper by posting it so I don’t have to worry about loosing it anymore, hope you like it too!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups used coffee grounds
  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1/2 salt
  • 2 cups water (have more on hand if needed)
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (have more on hand if needed)

Mix all the ingredients in a bowel and add flour and water as needed, if needed. The days whether affects how much of each you need and if it is sticky add more flour and if it is dry add more water, small amounts at a time.

Here is what mine looked like when I was done , and keep it in the fridge after playing with it so it lasts longer.

Love this idea! I always make the “kool-aid” play dough. I like the idea that there is no stove involved and the play dough has a different texture. Thanks for sharing!
