Bento Lunch Hacks
I love making Avery fun lunches that she is going to be excited to open at school, but to be honest, I am certainly not waking up an hour earlier just to put it together! For that reason I have found some quick and easy hacks to putting together fun and healthy lunches for Avery in no time flat.
First, grab whatever you have to work with if you aren’t able to or don’t want to purchase one of the special bento style lunch boxes. I have chose to use items I have around the house like my plastic food storage containers, some fun to go containers and even a muffin tin to put together fun lunches. I also like to use cupcake liners that I collect whenever I see them on sale and cookie cutters.
Once I have all of that, I grab the healthy ingredients I want in Avery’s lunch and I have to share with you a new favorite- the NatureBox. Seriously, I have watched enviously as other people enjoy these great snacks that have all the flavor and none of the artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. Those paired with some fresh veggies or fruit and a fun sandwich and lunch is done! Don’t the look delicious? And the best part is, NatureBox delivers a world of carefully sourced and nutritionist-approved snacks right to your door! There are hundreds of options and you can switch it up each month or let the experts surprise you with carefully curated selections!
Let’s start with the easiest of ideas- really they are all easy but this one uses a standard medium sized food storage container, one that we all have. I just took the square container and put a small heart shaped sandwich in each corner, some tiny bell peppers in the cupcake liner and a mix of the Mango Almond Bites and Honey Mustard Dippin’ Stix from my NatureBox in the other cupcake liner. That is a pretty awesome lunch!
Next up was an idea for when Avery is home, has friends over or on the weekends. This is one of my favorite things to do when Avery has friends over because it is a little different and super easy to put together. Muffin tin meals are a thing, maybe only to bloggers but are awesome because they are easy- I picked up the 6 cup muffin tins at the dollar store and can re-use them over and over again. For this one I had a couple heart sandwiches in one cup, applesauce in another and some carrots in a third. In addition to that I added Honey Dijon Pretzels, the amazing Big Island Pineapple and a delicious Peanut Butter Nom Nom for dessert. I should have made myself one!
Lastly, I like to pick up fun containers when I am out that are affordable and disposable- these are great for when we are on day trips to the zoo or other places where the back pack starts out HEAVY and I want to lighten the load as we go. This was an adorable little to go container and it could easily be done in another food storage container or other rectangular container. This one has more heart sandwiches, some bell peppers, Big Island Pineapple, Honey Dijon Pretzels and some carrots. Yum!
Avery will love all these lunches and I love that they are easy to put together and full of great snacks and ingredients, especially my NatureBox snacks that lack artificial everything!
Have I convinced you to try NatureBox? What if I told you your first NatureBox was FREE and would include one full size bag an 4 single serving pouches?!
