If you are anything like me, you may feel like your car is your second home. Some days I feel like I spend more time in there than I do anywhere else! Also, the kids DESTROY my car! I can clean it out each week and it seems that in a couple of days, I am right back where I started. That is why, this weekend I took some time to take care of my car and I resolve to make sure I keep up on this!
First things first, it doesn’t matter what the car looks like or how organize it is if it is not running well on the inside. I had a friendly reminder from my trusty maintance light that I needed to get in for an oil change. Now, the hardest thing about oil changes are just the amount of time that I feel like I am wasting sitting and waiting somewhere for it to get done. Well, not anymore! Did you know that you can get a Pennzoil oil change at Walmart? You probably did because once I found this out and started talking to my friends, they all were like “yeah, that is where I always take my car”. Apparently it was the best kept secret- until now!
There I am smiling and you want to know why? I got my oil change done while I was also able to go shopping and buy some things I needed for the house and my car. That is two birds with one stone people, my kind of multitasking. Plus, this wasn’t a budget oil change, I mean it was super affordable, but it was a well known brand too! I was able to get a Pennzoil Conventional Motor Oil change for way less than I have ever been able to before and their products clean out sludge that lesser oils leave behind. It is also designed for complete protection and there is even a Pennzoil Warranty! Sweet!
Some of the items on my list where to assist with my car care and here is what I picked up at Walmart while I was shopping to organize things a little better in my car.
First up, I loved this one, I grabbed a couple of dish drying mats for around $4 each as floor mats. They are way more affordable than anything you can find in the automotive section, I can throw them in the wash and, hello, that pattern is adorable! Right?! I love it!
Next, I needed a little caddy that I could have in the back seat with all of the car seats to have some things at hand for me or any kids that are in my car at any given time. I stocked it with all of the necessities.
After that I stocked my center console with my own stash of items that I wanted to make sure didn’t get grabbed by littles and included things like gum, extra chargers, a notepad, pen, napkins and a pair of scissors. You never know when you will need these things but when you do, you will be glad they are right there!
Lastly, this is another one of my favorite tricks. I picked up a role of non skid shelf liner and put it down in the back of my car because it is always helpful to minimize things rolling around back there while I am driving. Also, it helps keeps things clean, but mostly I like stuff staying put.
I had also vacuumed out the car, but the car wash had to wait as this was a rainy San Diego weekend! How do you keep your car clean?!
