3D Upcycled CD Cubes

The art show at the preschool is coming up fast and I wanted to squeeze in a couple more projects for each class, but when I come up with a new crazy idea, I like to make sure it works before I do it with a class.
The director had requested a few more 3D projects so my wheels got to turning and these is what I came up with:
3D collage CD cubes.
Click on “Read More” to see how I made them!

First I set up the art area; newspaper, shiny things, tissue paper and glue.
I added 4 holes in the cd’s with my crop-a-dile, you could do this with a regular crop-a-dile but I found my big bite first so I used that.
For Avery and Scott I added the glue first but yo could have your children do this step.
Then they get to creating!! You know in the end there was some glitter involved. =)
Before I let them dry, I made sure I moved anything blocking one of the holes.
When they dried, I got out these little metal rings that I got at the craft store in the jewelry section. They are very easy to bend but you could use any type of metal ring or even wire or ribbon if you had to. You just need something to connect them all together.
First I connected four in a row and then two on either side of one of the cd’s, think of any other type of box template that you have done in the past.

Then you start building it up and connecting all of the holes with the metal rings until you have cubes.
Last but not least I hung them outside!
This will be perfect for the two year old class!!
