$10 Entry Way Revamp
Simple but inviting, I am very happy with it even though it means my purse needs to be on the floor so as not to clutter it up. Sacrifices for design.
On the wall I have a wood shim art piece, here is a closer look at that and how I made it:
I grabbed a few packs of shims from Home Depot, the are about $1.50 each.
Then I grabbed a canvas from a previous project fail, even if it doesn’t work out, I still save canvases, they have a million uses!
Then I started hot gluing the shims onto the canvas. Luckily they all fit perfectly in both directions (OCD happy dance!) so I glued two going one direction and on the next row I flipped them in the opposite direction.
Here is how it looks all finished.
Then I painted it with a dark brown paint. Actually, to be honest, the only paint I had in the color I wanted was chalkboard paint, so technically I could write on this art piece if I ever wanted to. Don’t know if I will though.
The vase is plastic and from the dollar store, I just put some glitter paint inside it and turned it upside down to dry. Then I spray painted some branches from the back yard white to stick inside it. Also, see those stick balls (not a great name but oh well), those were at my favorite wholesale florist supply for $.80!! Can you believe it? That is amazing! 5 of them for $4 is almost unheard of for these, I always see them in bags for like $20. If you have a floral supply in your hood you should check it out!
So, finally tally for the whole entry way is around $10, nice!
