Circle Skirt Clarification

Hey all, I got a couple of questions on how to cut out the fabric for the skirt I made from the tutorial on MADE

(Isn't that a confusing sentence to put together lol)

So, I took some pictures of, step by step, how I folded and cut the fabric, I still suggest checking out MADE's tutorial HERE for how to make the pattern and the rest of the steps for the skirt.

But after I cut out the fabric, I just made another one so why not check out one of those pictures first:
Cute right!? This is such an awesome tutorial!! Click "Read More" for how I cut the fabric:

First I made my pattern using her equation (found HERE) and laid out the fabric I wanted to use flat and right side up.

Then I folded it in half long ways (or hot dog style, moving the pattern of course).

Then I folded one side over enough to fit the pattern with some buffer room. The point is that you could fold it just in half completely again, and then you would have a big circle cut out of the middle of your piece of fabric. Which is fine, totally works for the tutorial,  but if you want to be more conscious of leaving yourself a usable piece for another project, you just fold over what you need. Does that make sense? In the end you want 4 layers of fabric.

Then you are going to line up the pattern on the corner that is ALL fold and NO raw edges.

Trace it on, probably not with a Sharpie but I wanted to make this easy to see. See that part that I scribbled? That is going do be cut out.

Cut along the first line.

And then the second line, the scribbled part you can toss or put in your scrap box.

Then you can unfold the circle once.

And twice, and you have your donut! I looked at it like this and totally second guessed myself because "even my baby isn't that skinny" when I noticed the size of the circle left over but when you fold it back in half it gets much bigger, shows you the difference between diameter and circumference, that's for sure!

Then I finished the rest of the steps and here is the finished product!

And of course, gotta have the model shots, she squealed with excitement when I moved the table this time and ran to the wall, but today she felt she needed a prop I guess so please excuse the plastic pretend mushroom from her kitchen area.

Seriously though, it is SUPER easy, and I used a different fabric this time and made the skirt in about 15-20 min with picture taking pauses. You will surely be addicted to this, I would make more but I need more elastic.

Does that help ladies?
