Branch Blocks

I have wanted branch blocks since I saw them at another preschool, I thought they would be so awesome for the kids to build with! I saw a set at a teacher supply store for over $50...not in my budget honey.

But, I have a bunch of branches, and a dad with some fancy (very scary and I would never touch it) saw and he cut the branch up for me in no time flat!

Then I just sanded the edges and put them in a basket and they are all ready for building!

They are going to make the coolest structures!!!

What do you think?

What a cute idea!! My classroom always had all plastic blocks, I would've loved to have had something like this for the kids to make different types of structures.

Great idea! Love this and pinning it to my pin board! Teachers are so frugal : )

We have a set that we love. We also made our own rather than the expensive ones. One thing that we added that the kids have enjoyed are some flats. I used some scrap wood that was pretty thin and we have some that are @ 5x7 and other similar sizes. We also have some strips that are about 1x8 and other similar sizes. It's been helpful for cool structures.
