Seven on Saturday with Jamie from Day & Age Design

Welcome to Seven on Saturday!! I am so excited to have Jamie from Day and Age Design here today!!!  She is an interior designer so you know she has got skills and I am so glad she let us get to know her better!

~.~.~.~.~

1. In a couple of sentences, tell us about yourself.

First, I would like to extend a big "thank you" to Michelle and her Delicate Construction readers. I am so happy to be here!

My name is Jamie, and I am a fun-loving interior designer, fashion merchandiser, business and etsy shop owner, trying to find her place in the world. I live for the wild and crazy adventures my fiance takes me on, like skydiving, and I absolutely adore our dog, Brodie. As far as I'm concerned, the only difference between him and a child is that he's covered in fur! I recently opened my etsy shop, Day & Age Design, and my fiance and I have been running our home improvement business, Designer's Haven, LLC. since 2009. I think it's safe to say that there is never a dull moment!

2. How did you get into blogging?

As typical as it may sound, I started blogging about 11 months ago as a way to get ideas, projects, and thoughts out of my head. I had just graduated from college and was desperately missing the extra stimulation that I received so much of while attending design school. I am officially addicted.

3. What is your blog about in a nutshell?

A nutshell is so small, but I will try my best to keep it short and sweet! Day & Age Design shares my journey as a young interior designer, fashion merchandiser, business owner, and free spirit, as I incessantly search for beauty, color, and inspiration in the world around me. I have numerous DIY projects, decorating and design tips galore, plus I offer my readers the chance to share their own blogs and amazing projects every Saturday at my link party.

4. What are your favorite materials/ ingredients/ tools to work with?

My hands are my number one tool by far; second to that would be my imagination; then it would have to be mod podge, paper, fabric, acrylics, watercolor, and rhinestones....lots of rhinestones....

5. Where do you find your inspiration?

Much of my inspiration comes from the brilliant architects, designers, and artists that I studied in school. I particularly enjoy the modern, mid century, and eclectic genres of design and most certainly derive some of my personal inspiration from that. However, I can just as easily find inspiration from a photograph, a magazine, or a piece of jewelry.

6. What are a couple of your favorite blogs?

Hmm, let's see here...well....Delicate Construction, of course! I also really enjoy  A Fish Who Likes Flowers, Simple Home Life, Thrifty Crafty Girl, Me You and a Wiener, Design Crisis, and so many more....

7. What are a couple of your favorite projects?

My recent chevron print storage makeover.

Teeny tiny baby shoes that I embellished with a handmade flower. These were a gift for my friend's daughter.

Colorful, yarn covered, mini Easter baskets that would be perfect for party favors and gifts all year round.

Cookie sheet-turned serving tray made over with acrylics, tissue paper, and mod podge.
Wow, that was so much fun! Thank you for having me Michelle!

Love these projects!! So cute!! I want some of those flowers for Avery's shoes and love the storage makeover- so clever! We all have one of those, right!?

Thanks Jamie!!
