Thanks so much for coming by to Guest Blogger Sunday!! Today, Tone from Bless is sharing a wonderful tutorial of making a grown up version of one of one of my favorite ideas! Check it out!
~.~.~.~.~
Hi, I am Tone from Bless. I started my blog back in February. I love to blog and I love to be creative. I think, I like sewing the most, but making things from wood is a good second. Today I will show you the pillowcase dress, the adult way. - And sorry for the quality of my pictures. My model was painting her house and not able to model the second dress - and my six year old had to step in... makes for funny pictures.
This is the dress - a different dress than shown in the tutorial, given to my 21 year old cousin.
Decide how long you want the dress. I made this one for a young girl, shorter than me, so I made it about 30 inches from shoulder - but when you measure your fabric, you have to measure from right under your collar bone. Cut out two pieces- I used a shirt as a guide- I made the front neckline lower than the back.
Sew the side seams and hem the bottom. The fabric I used today was a knit fabric and I didn't hem it, I only sewed a lace on top of it.
Picture 1: Fold in the sleeve opening and sew.
Picture 2: Front and back neckline - fold down, make room for an elastic and sew.
Picture 3: Thread an elastic through the front. Sew it on one of the sides. Decide how much elastic you want before you cut it off - it should be wrinkled, but not so much that you don't have room for your boobs (is that allowed to say???) Sew the other side, then repeat on back piece.
Picture 4: Will look like this - then cut off elastic.
Now for shoulder straps:
Picture 5: Today I used a wide lace and attached elastic to the back of it. Pull the elastic while sewing it on the lace. On the first picture - I sewed a casing and put an elastic inside before I attached it to the dress.
Picture 6: Attach to the dress.
Now wear the dress with a sash or a belt.
Too cute in her grown up dress.
