You remember my 10 New Uses post from last week about chopsticks..right? And how it was a challenge from the hubby to use them up?
Well, I had said to him "you need to find something else, for my next challenge" he said "ok, but isn't the point to use up all of the chopsticks before we do another one"...what? He then proceeds to bring me another box with the same amount, if not more, chopsticks.
Yeah, I had, not one, but two boxes.
Even I was shocked.
After spinning my wheels for a bit I came up with and AWESOME idea!! I am tickled about this one, it came out great...what do you think?
It is hanging on the wall in the hallway and I was going to wait to share it with you but I just couldn't!!!
It was really easy to make but it did take about a bazillion chopsticks. Just sayin'.
Click "Read More" to find out how I made it!!
Materials:
Tons of chopsticks....if you really want me to count just ask.
Canvas, I used an old one from a previous project, it was 9x12 I think
Hot glue gun and glue
Spray paint
First I just started gluing them on, two per row. I staggered where they met, kind of like when you are laying hardwood floor. Originally I was going to try to cut off all the ends so I wasn't worried about how long they were, then I got to the end and liked the look so didn't bother. Using the hot glue it went really quickly.
Then I kept working my way up.
Until I finished!
Then I took it outside and laid it on a couple of sheets of Avery's Easel paper.
And I spray painted it, just with brown I had leftover from my chair refashions.
Let it dry.
And hung it up!!
I think it looks AWESOME..did I say that?
Oh well, and I showed my hubbs, there was a reason I was keeping those!

Oh, that's brilliant! Would be great with an Asian-themed room, too. How fun! We always keep the take out chopsticks and use our own for eating, but we're still a long way from having that many saved up. (We mostly use them for poking into playdough and such!) Maybe one day.
That is totaly awesome !!!
