10 New Uses Tuesday {Chopsticks}

Ok, so I know what you are probably thinking... chopsticks??

Yeah, I know. The inspiration for this weeks ten new uses Tuesday come from my husband. I am SURE if you are a craft blogger you have a husband that makes some comment about your craft stash and supplies at some point.

And mine does.

All. The. Time.

So I decided to take advantage of this and spin it into a craft challenge for myself. I told him that each week he can pick something that I have "saved because there has to be something I can do with it" and challange me to figure it out. This was the first time we tried this and he chose a box of chopsticks.

Yes, there was a box of chopsticks in my craft room. Moving on.

So here you go, 10 new uses for chopsticks. ;)

1. Use 6 to construct an easel (let me know if you want a tutorial for this one).

2. Plant stakes for small or growing plants. You could also add cute labels and make them into plant markers as well.

3. Place mats, coasters, or table runner (this is actually what mine started out as, my mom made me a table runner and then somehow I broke it but saved them all because "there had to be something I could do with them" ..turns out there is at least 10 things lol).

4. Kabobs; food on a stick- need I say more?

5. Vase; hot glue them to the side and add a great, rustic, texture to a plain glass base.

6. Make a kite; decorate your paper and build the structure in the back with your chopsticks.

7. Knitting needles; I don't knit but my mom's friend told me about this one. I would imagine if you found yourself teaching a bunch of people how to knit, this would be cheaper than buying them all needles to start out.

8. Hair accessory; you have seen these right?  Remember doing this with pencils in school?

9. Pick up sticks; who says you need the actual game? Just use a pile of chopsticks!

10. Puppets; I made these up pretty fast and Avery loves them! You could do puppet shoes with your own homemade characters or photos like I did.

What do you do with chopsticks?

I love chopsticks! :-D

I think my favorite is that vase. It's so "natural" looking - awesome!

The Paul Mitchell people actually use chopsticks when they're cutting hair. Instead of clips. It's really cool.

I would not want to use them as knitting needles, although if I were stranded on a desert island, that would be better than nothing. ;)

Thanks for stopping by @gathered-sown.com this morning! I really appreciate your comment :)

I love the fact that you have a box of chopsticks! I have a curtain on my cutting table which hides boxes of things I "might need someday" lol! Maybe it's time for a challenge for myself!

Love your blog, and I'm following you now...
