Welcome to Seven on Saturday!! I have another awesome blogger to share with you today and I hope you go visit her and follow along!!
Today I am talking with Amy from One Artsy Mama!!
~.~.~.~.~
1. In a couple of sentences, tell us about yourself.
I'm an artsy-craftsy mama who loves her family, loves Jesus, and loves making the world a more beautiful place. When I'm not busy being mama, I'm also a professional ballroom, latin, and swing dance instructor. I have one adorable almost-3-year-old son who I like to call my "Little Crafter" because he enjoys doing all kinds of projects with me. I've been married to my best friend and forever dance partner for almost 10 years and I fall more in love with him every day.
2. How did you get into blogging?
Back in March, I was planning a craft playdate for my son and his friend and I searched online for some fun St. Patty's Day themed projects. I came across a blog called that artist woman where an art teacher was posting all kinds of ideas she had tried out with her students. I thought about all the projects Little Crafter and I had done, plus all the things I'd made myself, and decided I wanted to try and set up a blog of my own so that I could share those ideas with other mamas and crafty-types who were looking for inspiration. I found it to be a great outlet that provides some "me-time" when the little man is napping...and it really is addictive!
3. What is your blog about in a nutshell?
One Artsy Mama is basically a combination of projects I do with Little Crafter and things I've made myself...I can't resist posting about my latest jewelry making or sewing endeavors! I try to do tutorials whenever I can so that readers can try what they see for themselves. I try to feature lots of things that even the littlest hands can help make. There are also lots of holiday themed projects and ideas, as well as crafts that go along with Bible stories.
4. What are your favorite materials/ ingredients/ tools to work with?
For general crafting, I loooove Mod Podge...that stuff can do almost anything! I'm also addicted to fun fabrics...I've been known to go into the fabric store, find a fabric I 'need', buy it, and then try to think of what I can do with it. My current obsession, though, is jewelry making, so I'm all about beads and wire!
5. Where do you find your inspiration?
Actually, lots of my ideas have come from other bloggers. I love seeing everyone else's ideas on linky parties and blog posts because it inspires me to do similar things and try my own take on them. A few weeks ago, I got invited to join Pinterest, and that has been amazingly inspiring...I'm totally addicted, and I just can't believe how many fantastic ideas are floating around on there. It's really nice having a place to keep all those ideas too so I can refer back to them!
6. What are a couple of your favorite blogs?
I read a ridiculous number of blogs when I get the chance. Of course I love delicate Construction, and what attracted me to it first and foremost is the Made by Little Hands party on Mondays because it's a great place to find new crafts to do with the little man. I also enjoy reading Creative Carmella, These Peas Taste Funny, Crafty, Scrappy, Happy, Joy in the Jumble, and Come Together Kids both for their great ideas and because these ladies are such supportive bloggy friends! :)
7. What are a couple of your favorite projects?
Ooh, that's a toughie! I get excited about everything...:) Let's see. As far as things Little Crafter and I have made together, I'd have to say some of his painting projects. For Christmas, we got him this huge wall canvas and he painted it to hang in our living room:
And for Father's Day, we made hubby this special 12x12 canvas with his hand and footprints and silhouette.
One of my favorite sewing projects ever has to be this hobby horse I made for the little man when he wanted one sooo badly after going to a Cowboy themed storytime at the library. We couldn't find one we liked anywhere, so I freehanded the pattern and came up with this {he picked the fabric, yarn, and buttons himself}.
And as far as jewelry goes, my favorites are probably my peas in a pod and birds' nests. I love making fun, stylish mom jewelry! If you want to see more jewelry designs, check out my Etsy shop.
Thanks so much for letting me share with you today! I hope you'll stop by One Artsy Mama soon and say hi!

Thanks again Amy for stopping by!!
How cool is that hobby horse? I am totally going to try to make Avery one of those as well as wrap up a blank canvas to put under the tree for her this holiday season!
Such great ideas!!!
