Hanging Door Message Board {Back to School}

This is the first of many crafts that I am working on for back to school because this year, mama has to go back to work.

Honestly, I am a little (ok a lot) bummed over this but I am 90% sure I have scored the job teaching the 18 month old class at the school I worked at before I had Avery. This is great, and makes the transition much easier, because she will be in the 18 month class so I don't loose any time with her, I get to make money to help out and Avery gets to play with a bunch of new friends. I just have to hope that this class fills up so I can teach it!!

But anyways, the point is, mornings are going to be rushed with getting me ready for work, Avery ready for school and Scott ready for his day program and all out the door at 8 am. Many moms do this every day so I thought this would be a great craft to share.

I am good about remembering the things that we need every day- Avery needs a snack and a sippy cup before she goes out the door, I need my purse, keys, and cell phone, Scott needs his lunch, backpack and books. We don't forget those things. It is the out of the ordinary stuff that may get left behind- the camera, library books, paper work and so on- so that is where this idea came for a little message board I could hang on the door to remind me not to forget such things.

What do you think?

Materials:
Small white board- I got mine at the dollar store
Fabric
Felt
Faux pearls
Ribbion
Hot glue gun

To start the rosettes I make a knot at the end of the piece of fabric and hot glue it to the center of the felt.

Then I just twist the fabric and hot glue as I go around and around to make circles.

After I trimmed down the extra felt, I glued them on the bottom right hand corner in a cluster of three.

I cut down a piece of ribbon and to glued a couple of inches on the back.

Then, all I had left to do was hot glue a piece of fabric around the marker and add my faux pearls to the center of the three rosettes.

Here it is all finished!!

Darling. I forget things all the time, especially when I switch purses.

I think I need to make a non-girly one for my husband! He'd leave his head at home if it wasn't attached. Great idea!

A great idea!

I can so relate to your heartache about going back to work. I'm doing it this year too :-( Sadly, my little ones won't be around with me, and I'm dreading it.

What a great idea! So much more efficient and beautiful alternative to posting sticky notes to the door. I am very much looking forward to seeing what you plan on creating for a Homemade Christmas with us over at Creating Amongst Boys. Good luck on the job as well.

What a great idea! I should do that for us, (my husband in particular so he doesn't leave anything for school). Thank you so much for following me, I'm following you back.
