Did you see my 10 New Uses Tuesday post this week on tin cans? Well, one of those ideas was can cakes and I tried them for the first time this week!
I had come up with the ideas for my new uses over the weekend and I had remembered them from the holidays, I always see them around that time. THEN, I was watching Semi-homemade off my DVR from this week and Sandra Lee made them too, I figured that I had to try it!
I used my standard muffin recipe, any will do, Sandra Lee uses boxed muffin mix and doubled the recipe (or use two boxes). Then add something fun, either frozen fruit or chocolate something, what ever you want. By doubling, you will have enough for 6 standard 14.5 oz cans. Just make sure that you remember to use a lot of non stick cooking spray, you will be glad you did. When they come out of the oven, let them cool and then the fun part, decorating them!

First I gathered some patterned paper, a piece of ribbon and an embellishment. There is a flower in the picture but I didn't end up using it.
First I wrapped the paper around the can and hot glued it.
Then the ribbon and hot glued it as well, I made sure the seams lined up.
This is where I changed my mind, I liked the rosette more than the flower.
Last, I added 3 faux pearls in the center of the rosette.
Done! How much fun would these be on a buffet or at a place setting or as a party favor?!?!
