Hi, Delicate Construction readers!
My name is Dee and I am the La-Dee-Da Crafter
My blogging home is
I am a wife to a very handsome Navy Commander
(who doesn't love a man in uniform?)
a step mom to kids who have my whole heart
And who else has my heart....My La-Dee-Da doggie
Today, I will be sharing with you my porch makeover and how to make a very easy pillow. I wanted to makeover my porch and decorate for the seasons. I have a new house so I am having fun decorating it and making it our home. I started out by using some chairs that I used to have in my kitchen. Using a stencil, I painted our house number on one and to be kinda funny, I painted SIT on the other.{snicker}
To make a stencil I used freezer paper and my Cricut to cut out my words. I would recommend using a glue stick to keep the stencils down as you paint. I found this out by trial and error. The glue stick keeps it down but peels right off.
See that pillow made from Watermelon fabric......how about an easy tutorial on how to make that and I really mean easy!!!
First, I used an old pillow that I had as my pillow form. I know what you are thinking. Why cover a pillow with such a great message, If the shoes fits, buy it. But it is an old pillow and just doesn't go with anything anymore, but great message. Words to live by!!!
I then cut off some of the fabric to fit the size of the pillow.
Oh Look!!! My sweet La Dee Da doggie!
Then, I turned my fabric inside out, right sides facing and took it to my sewing machine. I sewed a straight, easy stitch. Keep it simple, that's the La-Dee-Da way, friends!
After that turn it back the right way. Now you have a nice stitch and you can iron it down to make it nice and pretty. Here is the easy part. You are done sewing. Grab some ribbon and simply tie the ends.
How easy and simple is that! Now, I have a cute summer pillow for my porch. The great thing about this pillow is when the next season rolls around and I change my decor, I can simply untie my ribbon and cover with different fabric. So, you have a pillow for all seasons. I am also very thrifty and I craft on a budget. So, this pillow and so far the porch makeover has cost me $0, nada, nothing. That makes this La-Dee-Da crafter very happy!
There you have it, a very easy pillow that can change with the seasons. I am working on my porch so check in with my blog to see more porch projects. So far, I have this wreath made from the same fabric:
And this Summer welcome sign:
