10 New Uses Tuesday {Plastic Food Storage Bags}

So, I counted and I think that this is my 15th 10 New Uses Tuesday!!

That is almost four months of new ideas! So exciting!!!

This week I tackled a favorite that most of us have and that we can find at the dollar store.
A win/win if you ask me!

Food storage bags are beyond versatile, there is so much to do with them and put inside them that the possibilities are endless!

Here are 10 new ideas!

1. Sandwich bag books; staple 5 bags together on the bottom end and children can draw on pieces of paper and slide them into the opening of each bag. I always made these with my students when talking about the letter "z" for the popular brand name.

2. Funnel in a pinch; whether it is salt and pepper into shakers or flour or sugar into their specific containers, put it in the bag, snip the end and there you go!

3. No mess finger painting; put the paper and some paint in a bag and close it up. I add some extra tape to be safe and let the children go at it!

4. Cover your hand when you are doing a messy task so you can answer the door or the phone without spreading the mess.

5. Piping bag; you can just snip the end or you can add your pastry tips to decorate cakes and cupcakes. Also great for those fancy pancake shapes, add the batter and let your inner artist show through.

6. Treat bags; these are always so much cheaper than the ones found in the craft store and the snack bags have always worked better for me anyway.

7. Organize junk drawers, cords, hair ties, jewelry, and more in an easy, inexpensive and quick to identify manner.

8. Make sidewalk chalk paint; smash chalk in the bag with a block and then add to a baby food jar with water. Use with a paint brush on the sidewalk.

9. Store important documents when you have a child in the car, when I make invitations I always store them in plastic resealable bags because my little princess likes to throw her sippy cup occasionally, and some of them leak, and the last thing I need when I am on my way to deliver them is a water mishap, this covers my tush. Also a good idea for things like immunization cards, I keep Avery's in my purse of diaper bag when we go to the doctor and this would save it in case something spilled or leaked.

10. Smash up crackers or cookies to make crumbs for recipes.

Take a average size thin light plastic food bag...blow it up and tie a knot...A 'balloon' to kill some kids' boring times! Love your posts. PC

Larger ziplock...add some salt and ice. Smaller zip lock...put a mixture of milk, sugar and vanilla and seal. Place small zip in larger zip and seal larger zip. Shake for about 15 minutes and you have....ICE CREAM...yum!!!

Cheers~

Great ideas! I have used them at bathtime. I fill them up with water and various bits and pieces of 'sea life', seal and you have an underwater fish tank.
