Upcycled T-Shirt Necklace

First of all, annoyed that blogger was down for so long and one of my posts has completely vanished.

But, I don't want to dwell on it, so moving on...

I am always looking for new ways to use stuff that I have because I am always much more happy with a project that comes out well, and didn't cost my anything.

I remember seeing a friend of mine with one of these necklaces and I knew I had to make one with some of my old T-shirts.

Isn't it cute!!

Click "Read More" to see how I made it!!

First you lay out your shirt flat on a large table or the ground, mine is inside out because of the logo.

Then cut off the bottom seam.

Next, cut the bottom of the shirt into one inch strips, do this until you get to the logo or the armpit of the shirt, whichever comes first.

After they are all cut, you are going to stretch them out and they will get an almost curled in look to them.

Here is what they look like when they are all stretched.

Gather them into one pile .

Then you are going to cut a small rectangle out of whatever is left of your shirt.

Then, using hot glue, glue a hem on one side (this is a before and after view).

Then put it under the strips and add glue to the end that you did not hem.

And fold it over tightly.

Then add glue to the hem.

And roll it on over.

Here they are all done in two colors!

I love how they came out and it is a great casual necklace!

And you can even raid your daughters flower clips and add one on for an extra touch!

Happy scrappin'!

Great idea! I am not that creative. I will have to try this though. It looks fantastic especially once you add the flower detail.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am now following you as well. I can't wait to read more.
