Pleated Ribbion & Flower Shirt Refashion

I have a bunch of plain shirts in my closet and I am slowly hoping to refashion some of them an give them a little pizazz... Here is my first recent attempt!

What do you think?

Click "Read More" to see how I did it!

What you need:

  • Shirt
  • Fabric or another shirt to get the fabric from
  • Needle and thread
  • Button or something for the center of your flower
  • Ribbon
  • Sewing machine

First things first, I cut out my circles from my second shirt, just random sizes. I cut out a bunch but then I found I only needed four.

Next I pinched them in the center on the back and then sewed a few stitches with my needle and thread to keep it that way.

Then, I got the ribbon and sewed my pleat along the collar of my shirt. I just did it as I went, you know how I roll.

Now comes the part where I stacked four of my circle flowers and sewed them onto the collar by hand.

After I got a few stitches I added the button and kept sewing. (I personally leave a tail when I first start sewing and one when I am done and double knot them in the end because I find it to be the easiest way to finish the stitch. Do it whatever way you prefer, obviously.)

Then you are done! I am pretty happy with the way it came out and it was funny to see Avery's face after her nap because I was wearing this shirt before she went down, then changed and did this refashion on it and had just finished taking the pictures of the 'after' when she woke up. She had a look of "that wasn't there before" when she saw it, cutie-pa-tootie!

I have to say I feel like I am gettin' pretty brave with all this additional pictures of myself LOL.

Do you have any refashions to share? Link them up in the comments section!!

This turned out so cute Michelle. I love the flower and the white accent on the collar. Adorable. I have 2 target clearance shirts sitting in my closet that I bought just to refashion...maybe this post will get me to actually do it!
