Most Popular Posts of 2010

As I sit here on New Years Eve (and glad we didn't make plans to go out with how sick Avery is) I was reflecting on this blogging year and thought I would share the top 10 most popular posts. I am so grateful that I kept up this blog because I have gained so many ideas as well as preserved hundreds of memories made with my growing family. Thank you for going on this journey with me!

Drum roll please.........

This was such a great year! Can't wait to see what 2011 brings!!!!

Quick New Years Noise Maker From Found Materials

Wade's new thing lately is challenging me to make things with what I have... for two reasons; to use up all the stuff in my stash and so I don't spend money.

Surprise, surprise lol.

So I know he will love this craft because I found everything around my craft room and in the art box I have for Avery and Scott.

Here is what you should search for to make these New Years Noise Makers (Substitutions welcome of course!)

  • Clear vessel (I used two plastic cups you could also use empty water bottles or something else)
  • Beads
  • Glitter
  • Hot glue
  • Tape
  • stickers

First I put the glitter in the bottom of one cup or in the bottle if that is what you are using.

Then the beads (or any other noise making item that fits in the cointainer you chose; buttons, rocks, marbles and so on)

Then I put hot glue on the rim and added the second cup (or hot glue the cap of your bottle on along the inside), after that I added some tape around the edge just to be sure.

Then let your children loose with the stickers, trust me when I say it DOESN'T matter what kind of stickers you have. Kids love stickers. Period. ;)

Then you are ready to ring in the New Year!!!

Hope you have a fantastic and SAFE New Years Eve!

Happy 2011!

Vinyl-izing my Cricut

Yeah I went there.

I put vinyl on my Cricut.

And it is zebra print.

And I think it is fantastic LOL.

AND I used scrap vinyl so it is 'green' and 'upcycled' and all those other awesome words too.

Just sayin'

;)

Favorite Parties of 2010

There were TONS of parties this year! They were all fun and, because I am like that, all different. I had a few top favorites that I thought I would bring back (and it is too dark to get decent tutorial pictures).

First was Scott's Uno Themed 21st birthday, it was so much fun to decorate!

Next was Thanksgiving, I was really happy with this snack buffet and the table this year.

Then was this "Smile" table that I did when I was kinda being a jackass.

And I was really into cupcake picks and these for my nephews 3rd birthday were awesome and easy.

Favorite Crafts of 2010

I have had sooooo much fun this year!! Of course my FAVORITE thing I made this year was this little beauty:

She is now 10 months of spunky adorable-ness and I am SO excited to start planning her first birthday party!!!
But on to the crafts! I went through all the pictures and picked out the ones that stood out and this is what I found...

First I loved these Glam Napkin Rings I made with glitter and rhinestones (and the rings came from the dollar store!):

Next this 2$ Dishtowel Apron was also lots of fun:

These Covered Journals went to a good cause but I also made TONS more =):

I was a big fan of the Covered Candy Bar Wrappers... these were the ones I made for my baby shower:

These 30 Minute Mini Scrapbooks are great for gifts, especially to expecting moms because they are quick for the recipient to fill and label... almost as easy as they are to make!

I think these ABC Magnets are a much cuter statement to have on the fridge than the standard set and my nephew thinks they are great!

Sensory bottles were a big hit with Avery and my nephew and I have made many of them:

These were perfect mother's day presents last year for our moms, the Gift Card Tin Mini Scrapbook makes a wonderful brag book:

The Zipper Flower made it's way to many of my purses and sweaters as well as some great bows for Avery:

And last but certainly not least is a current favorites, the Homemade Play Kitchen:

And my Dry Erase Frame I made for the gift exchange (it was quite the hit!):
