Homemade Play Kitchen!!!!!!

This is one of those projects that has been on the list for a while and with Avery standing up on everything, it seemed like a good time to try it.

Do you have one of these:

Come on you know you do, I think everyone has at least one.

If not, you can get them at Ikea or Target for $10-$15 (Ikea has fifty eleven colors and target has the standard black and white and maybe a couple others).

Well the point is, I turned that table into this:

Isn't it cute!?!?!

I am soooooo excited!

Here is what you need:
  • Table
  • Bowl (got mine at the dollar store- scratch that bought like 15 for parties and just took one from the party stash for this project)
  • Vinyl (I just so happen to be giving away some vinyl in these shapes over at Mine for the Making, you should enter the giveaway... just sayin')
  • Various lids (a pair that match and two sets of 4 that match, mine were from puffs, baby food jars and my makeup)
  • Hot glue
  • Gorilla glue
  • Small water bottle
  • Spray Paint
  • Optional- scrap fabric for mini dish towels
  • Fabric for underneath

Ok first I worked on the top- I glued on my dollar store bowl to one side of the table with the gorilla glue.

Then I cut some concentric circles out of black vinyl on my Cricut (remember the giveaway? don't forget! they are in white but they will still work, just get a colored table or glue a cd on first shiny side up and put the vinyl on top.

I put the biggest ones on first:

Then I added every other circle, I saved the unused ones for another project:

Next I glued the baby food lids onto the four puffs lids to make the knobs for the stove:

Then I spray painted those and the pair of my makeup lids in a cute pink color that I bought in one of those mini cans because I thought it was cute... I know ridiculous- moving on. I didn't have a good picture of this step.

While those dried I glued on the fabric around the bottom. It was easy once I got a method and this is what I did- but first, I hemmed the unfinished edges by gluing them with the hot glue gun.

Then I glued each edge up:

And then the middle:

And then the middle of each side (I just kept going on the right sides for the photos to make it easy to see the difference):

And then the middle of each point again:

And the finished curtain:

I did this to all four sides.

Last came the finishing touches, I hot glued on the knobs for the stove that I added the black center of the vinyl onto.

I put the other pair of pink painted lids on either side of the top of my soap dispenser for the sink also with hot glue.

And I also hot glued a water bottle to one side to be a vase and added a couple of flowers.

The last touch I added were some quick little ruffle dishtowels out of some scrap fleece and fabric strips.

I think it turned out great and I couldn't be more excited to start all the other things to add to it like pots and pans!

I will be linking this to all the parties in my "places I party" page!

Also I am going to applied to be a part of Crafting with the Stars over at Sew Dang Cute!!!!

 Wish me luck!!!

Why didn't I DIY a kitchen? Seriously!

This is really cute and thrifty...

Maybe I can turn an old Ikea table into a lego table since we already have a Step 2 kitchen...

Avery is so lucky!

Thanks for linking up...

Just found you through a pinterest connection - such fun.
Perfect timing for me as I'm in the middle of recycling an entertainment center into a good play kitchen and was thinking of options for the stove and knobs - love your idea!
