Covered Canvas Bulletin Boards

I stumbled upon a super cute arts and crafts store and they ended up having 10 x 10 stretched canvases for $1.88... can you say SCORE?!

So I got a couple and this is what I did with them:

Here is what you need:

  • Canvas
  • Fat quarters or fabric of your choice
  • Staple gun
  • Hot glue gun
  • Cork bulletin board (mine was from a 4 pk of the tiles, but you could use rolls as well)
  • Buttons
  • Scissors

First, I cut my cork tile down to 8x8 with the help of my paper cutter, it did not cut it all the way but it scored it for me.

Then you bend the cork tile back and forth until the piece breaks off.

Next, I covered the canvas, I cut the fabric to fit and...

folded it over the sides and stapled it with the staple gun.

Here is what they looked like when they were done.

After that, I used the hot glue gun to attach the two 8x8 pieces of cork to the 10x10 fabric covered canvases.

They were cute like this but I wanted to add a little extra something and thought that a couple of fabric flowers would tie the two fabrics together. Here is how I made those:

First cut a large, medium and small circles. From the multi colored -fabric I cut a large and small circle out of the orange and a medium one out of the multi- fabric. For the orange I cut a large and small out of the multi- fabric and a medium out of the orange.

Take each circle one at a time and pinch it in between your thumb, pointer, and middle finger and put hot glue in the center like this:

Yes I have a low temp glue gun here so I don't totally burn the crap out of myself, I would NOT do this with a HOT or larger glue gun.

Then glue the medium onto the large and the small onto the medium for each set and attach to the corner of the cork board on each one.

Add a button to the top and you are done! I put them in between my kitchen window and the front door so whatever was on it could be easily seen on the way out. This is a great place for reminders, especially if it involves bringing or packing anything with you.

I am going to link up at Jen's Weekend Wrap Up Party!

Very cute. I'm re-doing my daugher's bedroom for her birthday, and this would be a great way to dress up her corkboards. Lovely fabric choices too.
